I had the same problem some time ago. The basic ideea is that Nvidia
0.94 driver works with
XFree 4.01 *not* with XFree 4. So, you have to upgrade Xfree firstly!
Then I had encountered
few more problems due to a conflict - I had a libGL.so (from NVidia) and
a libGL.a (from
XFree 4.01) in the same directory, suppressing the second was the key to
make perfly
working.
