I have just got FSAA working under Linux

Rh6.1
Xfree 4.0.1
Nv 0.94
Geforce DDR
PIII 800
128MB SDRAM

The spec of the machine is not unreasonable.

It will happily run our pf app at 1280x1024 at 30fps.

If I switch on any for of FSAA, at 640x480, I get about 12/15 fps.

Is this because all the FSAA is done in the software drivers, and
consequently on the motherboard, or is there some other reason why it is so
slow.

As far as I'm aware the FSAA on Nvidia just takes the current res, and
multiplies either by 1.5 or 2, then scales back down. So really should get
30fps at 640x480 ???

Will we see the same performance for FSAA from the SGI visual workstations ?
I know the current one has no support for FSAA, but the new one will, or the
new software will ???

What card is going in the new one, the current has Quadro, but the new will
have Quadro 2 ?

Will we see better performance with a card that has hardware support for
FSAA like the new Voodoo.

Regards

Paul Hussein.
