Greets,

since this is my first posting to the group, I hope this hasn't been covered
in something like a faq, or recent posting.

I'm trying to port some models that I've done in Lightwave into Performer.
Whenever I try to use something like .3ds format, or .dxf or even obj I get
a 'bad child 0x0' error and no object gets loaded. I'm simply trying to
see a single model in something like Perfly, or the mouse tracking example
from the program guide. I can view *some* other .3ds models that I get off
the internet. Here are my questions.

Is there some trick to the file formats that make Performer happy? Do I
have to use a special conversion? Lightwave does not convert to .flt, or
that would be the one I would use. (I understand that Performer has a
special affinity for .flt's...)

Is there some way that I can get more information about what Performer
doesn't like about my models? I like my models; I think they're very nice
(just alittle aside)

I have alot of questions about stuff like texture and lights, but I'm kinda
dead in the water until I can get a model loaded.

Thanks in advance, hope everyone's enjoying Siggraph (but not too much to
answer their email:)
