Hello performers,
We, at SARA, have developed a Python binding for the OpenGL|Performer API.
It works remarkebly well. It enables you to write performer applications
as python scripts.
In fact, it works so well, that we at SARA think that our work is interesting
for other parties as well. SARA would like to share this work by Open Sourcing
this Python binding for Performer, in the hope that together with the opensource
community, we can improve this python binding further.
Now, here is the catch: the binding is ofcourse a mirror image of the
Performer C++ API itself. The binding (which is currently in the form of
SWIG interface files) contains a close-to-verbatim copy of most of the
function declarations (mainly public interface of the c++ classes).
However, the Performer header files are clearly marked as being copyrighted,
with the following restriction:
* THE CONTENT OF THIS WORK CONTAINS CONFIDENTIAL AND PROPRIETARY
* INFORMATION OF SILICON GRAPHICS, INC. ANY DUPLICATION, MODIFICATION,
* DISTRIBUTION, OR DISCLOSURE IN ANY FORM, IN WHOLE, OR IN PART, IS STRICTLY
* PROHIBITED WITHOUT THE PRIOR EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION OF SILICON
* GRAPHICS, INC.
So, mainly to the people of SGI who read this list: Can someone tell me
more about this, or maybe provide me with an email address of someone who
would be authorized to write me such an 'express written permission'?
Many thanks,
Bram Stolk
