I've noticed the exact same problem described by Bryan but I did notice that
it occurred after upgrading to IRIX 6.5.
I use pfuSaveImage to capture a sequence of images from a Vega/Performer
simulation and then use "movieconvert" (mediaconvert) to create animations.
I don't seem to notice the flickering for a consistently bright scene but if
I have a dark background with a varying foreground, the brightness of the
animation does change quite a bit (a dark sky brightens and darkens
noticeably throughout the animation). The saved images are consistent (i.e.
correct), it just appears as if the SGI mediaconvert tool tries to do some
type of brightness/gamma adjustment. Again, this problem was never noticed
before IRIX 6.5. This undesired effect occurs when creating a QuickTime
movie, as well as SGI and AVI movies. No compression was used for the QT
and SGI movies so it doesn't appear to be a compression artifact.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening while using mediacovert?
Thanks,
Stephen Guest
