Paged terrains on linux

I have posted a message about this already and have had no response.

I have been unable to get paged terrain models to work under performer
2.3.1 linux.

Furthermore some of the tools such as builddted/builddem crash, even on
small databases
and I have 2 gig of swap space.

Has anyone tried this with any success?

If it does not work, is this perhaps due to limitations of performer on
linux, or is
it possibly a bug? I don't want to register a bug until I receive
feedback from the group
as to whether I might be doing something wrong
