pfGreetings(),

In the hopes of avoiding a flood of email to mongoose-feedback (and
info-performer) about the same problem, I'll post this here:

Executive summary: if you're using NVidia's 0.93 drivers, back off
                    to the 0.92 drivers.

There exists a bug in XFree86-4.0 that one may encounter while using
Performer under Linux. The problem lies with XFreeFontInfo(). Some
OpenGL implementations (such as NVidia's 0.93 drivers), use
XFreeFontInfo() within glXUseXFont(). Performer applications such as
perfly or really any OpenGL application which uses glXUseXFont() or
XFreeFontInfo() may encounter a core dump with a stack trace ending
somewhere within XFreeFontInfo().

This problem occurs when libX11.so is compiled with BigFont support. Such
is the case with the XFree86-4.0 rpms available from RedHat. A patch
exists that fixes this problem. Both SGI and NVidia have contacted RedHat
and asked them to update their rpms with the patch.

Again, if you're using NVidia's 0.93 drivers, we recommend backing off to
the 0.92 drivers at this time. When fixed XFree86-4.0 rpms appear,
they'll most likely appear here:

ftp://rawhide.redhat.com/pub/rawhide/i386/RedHat/RPMS

The current (broken) version is: 4.0-0.19

When the fix appears, you can safely upgrade to the 0.93 drivers.
