After I did the initial install I too got core dumps from perfly. It
would start to load up then just crash. In the Nvidia FAQ it says to use
the line
Driver "nv"
in the Device section of the XF86Config file, however on my system this
caused problems until I replaced it with the line
Driver "nvidia"
I ended up disabling the Agp with the line
Option "NvAgp" "0"
I also downloaded the src rpm for the kernel module and compiled it on my
system, just to be safe. I never tried the version 2 drivers, I got my
card the day after the version 3 ones came out.
I'm currently using the libGL.so from the NVIDIA_GLX-0.9-3.i386.rpm and the
libGLU.so and libglut.so from the mesa.rpm.
As I said it runs great, at 1280x1024 it holds a solid 60 fps, very
occasionally it dips to 30fps. All I need now is clipmapping on my linux
machine and I'll be very happy :)
Here are the relevant specs for my system:
1-600mhz Athlon (Asus K7M motherboard)
512M pc133 memory
3D Annihilator 2 (GeForce 2 GTS chipset)
Suse Linux 6.4
XFree 4.0
Performer 2.3.1
Here is my XF86Config file (it might be of help):
