Hello fellow Performers,

We're running 'perfly', using the 'PerformerTown' database on our Linux PC
and having performance problems with our current card, a Diamond Viper V770
Ultra, 32 mb, TNT2 card. We're running Redhat 6.0 on a dual 550 Mhz cpu box,
w/512kb cache. We verified Mesa X11 is our OpenGL layer, and based on
talking with 'Xi-Graphics' accelerator software analysts, we can at most
realize 2-D acceleration at additional cost of $200 or so for a special
X-Server (which would probably be better invested in a new card !). In sum,
perfly runs about 6.7/60.0 Hz (133.6ms) with texture OFF, and 0.9/60.0 Hz
(1115.6 ms) with texture ON (not too good !).

Does anyone know of a good Linux supported graphics card, preferably in the
$300 to $500 range, that would give us about ~20hz (our desired performance)
for 'perfly' ? We've been pointed to 3D Labs Oxygen GVX1 as one of the best
(??). How about Matrox, which we've also heard about ? Any help or ideas
would be greatly appreciated !
