Multigen-Paradigm's AudioWorks2 v3.5 (IRIX) supports streaming waves.
It's available in beta, and the main release should be in a few weeks.
We've found that you can stream several waves simultaneously without
significant CPU impact even on low end machines, if you use the optimized
awd daemon.
A simple perfly-based app into the sample code is now included with the product.
