This has perplexed us for quite some time now, to the point of a FAQ
entry:

  http://www.sgi.com/software/performer/linux-faq.html#11a

So, at least you can check your downloaded filesizes & checksums
with what's there.

But we're still trying to figure it out (actually I just had an
epiphany; perhaps it would help if we specified that RPM files are
application/octet-stream on our server). Will keep y'all informed.
