Have you first ensured that all your platforms have been gamma corrected?
You can use /usr/sbin/gamma on your SGI. Some PC graphics card drivers have
gamma correction built in - accessable from the screen properties. Otherwise
there's a very good gamma correction tool available in Adobe Photoshop.
This is the most common reason for colour/brightness differences between
platforms.
