Multigen is OpenGL based, not Performer based so it can't help you here.

For what you want to do you could try to use the 'pfconv' utility. The
trouble is very few of the Performer file loaders support the store
function. I have seen a version of the Inventor loader with a store
function implemented, I think I saw it on info-performer a long time
ago. It was never very successful for me so I've deleted it. Check the
archives though.

Personally I've developed a store function for the OpenFlight loader
using the OpenFlight API which I've found convenient many times for
converting from PFB (I'm not really at liberty to give this away
though).
