One of our people ran into that problem once before with XFree86-4.0 and I
believe the offending font was "utopia-bold-r". As an FYI, I have the
following fonts install on my system and everything seems to work fine:

[root++at++dhcp-b43-55-228 /root]# rpm -qa | grep fonts
XFree86-100dpi-fonts-4.0-0.3
XFree86-75dpi-fonts-4.0-0.3
XFree86-ISO8859-2-100dpi-fonts-4.0-0.3
XFree86-ISO8859-2-75dpi-fonts-4.0-0.3
XFree86-cyrillic-fonts-4.0-0.3
ghostscript-fonts-5.10-3
urw-fonts-1.1-8
tetex-fonts-1.0.6-7
[root++at++dhcp-b43-55-228 /root]#

hope that helps,
tom
