[info-performer] texture quality

i am doing some detailed texture mapping (readable text and stuff) under
pfLinux. i am wondering why there is an texture quality drop-off that
appears to depend on distance from texture and window size. also, i would
like to know if i can turn this off and render the entire texture in the
same quality. is the artifact that is in the included image a feature of
MipMapping?

i want the highest fidelity renderings of the texture as possible.
