Yep, this is a known bug --

When run in full-screen mode, the pfWindow communicates with the
window manager to have its window borders removed. This will fail if
there is no window manager running (as in your case) or one that
doesn't support the particular X atom we're interning (like twm).
As a workaround, specify a window size smaller than the screen size:
ie, 'perfly -W1020,760 fred.flt'.
This will be fixed in the next release.
