You should expect to see a geometry performance increase of around
2.5-3X and probably more because of the dual CPU config easing other
processing overheads.
Reality doesn't have the full speed antialiasing of infinite Reality
although it's the same architecture so you should see maybe around 6-8X
fill performance increase without antialiasing and maybe 2-3X increase
with antialiasing (4 sample)considering that you've doubled the RM's in
the system.
With infinite Reality instead of Reality you'd see a full 6-8X increase
in fill with antialiasing in addition to a geometry increase of around
5-6X so that may be something you want to consider as an upgrade.
In addition to the performance improvements you'd get a LOT more texture
memory (64MB vs 4 or 16MB depending on your current RM's) and features
like CLIP mapping and dynamic video resize with the Reality so that may
also add some justification for the upgrade if you consider those things
important.
The performance improvements are approximate and will vary depending on
what you are drawing and other state like back face culling modes and
state changes applied during rendering. I've based my back of the
envelope calculations on measurable benchmark numbers for iR and what I
remember of RE2 benchmark numbers which were roughly 50Mpix/sec per RM
and ~1M tris per sec.
Cheers,Angus.
