Hi,
Thank you all for your answers. Let me try to detail my problem.
As we want to implement a real time application for training 4 people
using HMD at the same time on a team work, we need to render 4 different
scenes (8 images because we need stereo).
The thing I'd like to learn is it is theorically possible to use one
pipe (with DG5-8) for rendering 4 different scenes (Of course according
to resolution and complexity of scenes one pipe and/or even 4 raster
managers can not be enough). I think that I can send these 8 images to
the different locations in the frame buffer and than I can take any part
of the frame buffer and send it to a channel I want, is this true?
When I try to calculate the pipes and raster managers I need can I use
following method.
one person -> 2(stereo)x30Hz(update rate)x16000(polygons) = 2 million
polygons/sec
so for 4 persons 4*2 = 8M < 1 pipe (Onyx2 IR2 pipe can render 13.1M
polygons/sec)
one person -> 2(stereo)x640x480(resolution)x30Hz(update rate)x5(pixel
depth) = 92 million pixel
so for 4 persons 4*92 = 368M < 2 RMs (2*200M (capacity of one raster
manager) = 400M)
As a result for my problem 1 pipe having 2 RMs is a solution if I want
to have an application to train 4 people having different point of views
in a virtual environment.
thanks,
toygar
