Hi pfAll!
In our terrain database we create power lines by using unclosed
wireframe polygons. The problem is that the color of these power lines
shifts at different view angles and distances. The polygon color is set
to grey. Vertex colors and normals are not set. We have experimented
with normals, materials and textures on these polygons, but nothing
seems to do the trick.
The blinking seems to occur when the LOD shifts for other objects in the
database. When no other objects exist in the database - only power lines
and terrain polygons - the blinking doesn't occur. This implies that it
might have something to do with different geostates. But since we have
tried different material, texture, normal and color settings I'm not
sure of this.
I guess there must be someone who has experienced this problem before?
Anyone who has found a solution? What is the exact cause of the problem?
By the way, we use the MultiGen API to create the database. The blinking
appears on all platforms we have tested (Onyx & Onyx2 with Infinite
Reality, Indigo with Impact etc.).
We appreciate all kinds of comments on this problem.
Thank you!
/Andreas Ekstrand
