OK, here's my opinion, not SGI policy, since we seem to have a useful
discussion going I'll have my say;

info-performer should be the one list which deals with Performer because
many of the issues across operating systems are similar and most of the
questions relate to the API, newbies on Linux will want this audience's
experience in programming Performer. That is what info-performer is all
about IMHO, and the cross germination between IRIX & Linux on less
directly related topics will be useful.

SGI should not be maintaining a list dedicated to support for or
comparative performance of PC cards and other systems on whatever
operating system. You need independence for such a list and should look
elsewhere, no need for an info-performer schism over this, it's just off
topic for this list. I can appreciate the attractiveness of this list
for such inquiries because of the high quality of the audience but it's
taking a liberty with a community which on the whole would rather stay
focused on the original subject of the list, and as the list owner SGI
I'm sure would hold this view. Lists also take time and resources and
I'd rather SGI spent it's time & resources directly serving it's
customers.

The mongoose feedback list should eventually go away as that product
matures and we expect less feedback traffic on bugs, RFE's & other
comments specific to the performer porting and release process on Linux.
It was instituted to reduce the inevitable Linux background cacophony on
a new product, and I think was intended to be a temporary affair from
the outset.

Cheers,ANgus.

My comment on the abuse of Jon Johanson's rights;
After giving up raiding their neighboring countries the Norse men
have taken to raiding 15 year old kids in their bedrooms. Very sad.
