Angus,

I disagree. I beleive that discussion of Iris Performer as it relates
to non-sgi hardware is on-topic for this list.

This list should be an appropriate place to discuss how to achieve the
best performance & results using Iris Performer (even on non-SGI
graphics hardware).

For example if I want to ask people what modifications that have made to
their performer based applications in order to make them work better on
a Dell machine with and nvidia graphics chip, would that be inappropiate
for this forum?

I thought this forum was about how to make Iris Performer work and
perform well. I did not know that this only applies to discussions of
how to make Iris Performer work well on SGI hardware.

I do agree that the original post had a little bit too much marketing
type hype, but I assure you that many people on the list would be
interested to see what results cedric got on the wildcat boards. I
don't want to see wildcat sales people on this list promoting their
boards, but I do want to know what results people are getting with
wildcat hardware (as well as Nvidia, 3dfx, E&S, HP, etc) under Linux.

There are many people on this list that are now looking at non-sgi
hardware solutions. I think that since this is an Iris Performer list
we should be able to discuss running Iris Performer on any hardware
platforms that we chose.

This is a list about Iris Performer, and I want to hear about Iris
Performer on all hardware platforms.

What does everyone else think?
