Try setting PFNFYLEVEL to 0. If it still spews output you don't like,
then you can try redirecting stdout and stderr somewhere. For example if
you're using a csh:

setenv PFNFYLEVEL 0
perfly esprit.flt

The above still spits out the MultiGen copyright. If that's still too
much output, you can redirect it somewhere:

perfly esprit.flt >& /dev/null

That ought to get rid of any and all messages for ya.
