Take a look at DMPbuffers, an alternate type of GXL drawable.
The general idea is that a DMPBuffer has an associated DMbuffer, which
acts as the drawable's color buffer. You makecurrent the DMPbuffer,
do your rendering, then pass the associated DMbuffer to your VL
output path. You'll need to make sure that the VL path is created
in such a way that it's compatible with the DMPbuffer.
Get started with following man pages: glXCreateGLXPbufferSGIX, dmbuffer.
You'll also need to be fairly familiar with dmedia, particularly VL.
I seem to recall some decent info in one of the online books (Dmedia
Programmer's Guide?) and I believe that there are some OpenGL examples
in the SGI DevToolbox.
One hitch: I don't know if Performer directly supports DMPbuffer
drawables, or if there are any Performer examples that use DMPbuffers.
Can someone else comment on this?
