How about:

        rcu_read_lock();
        in_dev = dev->ip_ptr;
        if (rcu_dereference(in_dev)) {
                atomic_inc(&in_dev->refcnt);
        }
        rcu_read_unlock();
        return in_dev;

Admittedly only saves one line, but...
