There are some very hard problems in handling IPv6 scopes.

If you want a really good PhD thesis, consider examining the problem
of safe and stable load balancing across multiple asymmetric paths.
E.g. what happens if SCTP sees two paths but they really share a few
hops?  You could end up competing with yourself for bandwidth.  It's a
very hard problem--that's why the Jedi Council removed load balancing
from SCTP.
