  BSD has a routing socket, and the IPsec PFKEY socket in NRL was patterned
after that. There is no equivalent to netlink in any BSD that I know. All
configuration is done via ioctl's.
  Alan Cox' comments at various conferences about how open source is
excessively modular at times probably applies to netlink.
