I suspect that the author's intent was to make the first part of
the while() condition:
while (--i>0 && .... )
Sure looks that way, and it is what I have done in my
trees. I've sent the 2.2.x version of the fix off the
Alan and will send the 2.4.x version to Linus eventually.
