what kind of wickedness from this way came?
been noticing some flaky behavior on this mail server but haven't had the usual
time/resources to get under the hood.  it's due for an upgrade to solaris8 
soon, but
i'd like to know what you saw in the logs.  i've inherited this server from the
previous sys admin so am not sure what weirdness has been done to it.
