Problem installing OpenInventor on O2

Hello,

I am running on a O2 with IRIX 6.3.

I need to compile an application which uses inventor.

I have take the inventor-2.1.5.6.src.tar 
from ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/inventor/download/

They wrote that to install inventor we have to type
gmake install.

The gmake is not on my system so i use

make -f GNUMakefile install

It gives me the following errors:

UX:make:ERROR:make:file '.make/system' line 7 : Must be a separator (: or ::)

same thing with 
UX:make:ERROR:make:file '.make/commondefs' line 7 : Must be a separator (: or ::)

same thing with 
UX:make:ERROR:make:file '.make/releasedefs' line 7 : Must be a separator (: or ::)

Someone could help me to fix this stuff ?
Do i need to install gmake command ? If yes where can i find it ?
