Having problem with print files

I have been trying to use SoOffscreenRenderer to generate a postscript file.
It generates a file but when I print it or use ghostview to look at the
image all I get is a series of oblique, staggered, multicolor lines.  If I
use LUMINANCE, the  lines are grayscale.  If I use RGB_TRANSPARENCY, the
file is blank.  Any ideas?
