Gensrc is a tool to generate a "template" source tree for some new package. You can use gensrc to create an initial source tree for your project, and then populate it with your own source. All the nasty work for portability (e.g. autoconf/configure) and packaging (e.g. generating RPMs), has already been done. Gensrc source trees are set up with portability in mind - you get an autoconf/configure build environment with example makefiles (for GNU gmake) so it is really easy to set up your source tree and concentrate on your project rather than your build environment and packaging. Source trees that are set up with gensrc are stand-alone - they do NOT require gensrc to be installed at build-time, install-time or run-time.
