xfs_repair gets stuck on phase3

1GB ram, 5gb swap. However, the xfs was not taking more than around 15mb in
top.

kernel.. latest knoppix, seems Kernel 3.0.4. However, the computer itself
is latest ubuntu. Kernel 2.6.32-25 or something around.
but the log files are when running knoppix live cd.
