Summary: xfs_fsck memory requirement for big files leads to
non-successful check
Product: XFS
Version: Current
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P5
Component: xfsprogs

Classification: Unclassified
Dear developers,
we've got a 21TB XFS volume which is only use to store rather big single files
(up to 190GB, 3000 files in total)
This leads to xfs_db(?) eating up all memory (16GB + 6GB SWAP) without
successfully completing.
This means the memory requirements seem to be directly dependent upon file
sizes, not volume sizes, as I can successfully check a similar-sized volume
with only smaller files (see also #304, man-page should document memory
requirements).
My expectation was that it is still possible to check big files that must not
fit into main memory.
Current setup:
16GB RAM
CentOS release 5.6 (Final)
xfsprogs
Version : 2.9.4 Vendor: CentOS
Cheers,
M
