RedHat do not want kdb, so SGI has no interest in supporting kdb on
RedHat distributions.

None at all. Since you are building your own kernel, use the latest
vanilla kernel (2.6.12-rc5) and the corresponding kdb patches. That
kernel+kdb combination works fine with the user space packages from
FC3.
To stop up2date trying to replace your custom kernel, set this line
in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date.
pkgSkipList=kernel;
