Thank you. Since af_packet is almost the right thing, could the TAP device be used just to inject packets into the host TCP/IP stack? The emulator sends packets to the network with af_packet as usual

The application is in fact a computer emulator. Among other things, the emulator emulates a network interface using the af_packet facility. The emulator can run an operating system with a TCP/IP stac

No. It looks like you use packet socket for a purpose where it cannot be useful at all. This cannot work. I guess you want ethertap. Alexey
