xfs_repair badblocks Thanks for the reply. Do I need to install anything other that xfs-progs? Also, does one run 'badblocks' on unmounted individual drives and/or partitions? Or on the entire mounte

xfs_repair badblocks Oh, one more thing. What kind of output do you get from xfs_repair and badblocks? Do either of these automatically repair problems, or just report on what needs repair?

either. if you do the entire sw RAID it might not be clear which underlying device is bad if that's the case however under such cases i would expect the RAID to mark that drive bad a give you a chanc

repair is in xfsprogs, badblocks in e2fsprogs. Reading man pages for each will answer your other questions (although if you find something that magically repairs bad blocks, please let me know) :) An

he's saying make sure the log is replayed ... the kernel can do that, xfs_repair cannot and will bitch --cw
