I can run the same sequence here successfully, I notice that the first output from make is this: == include == make[1]: Nothing to be done for `default'. == libxfs == I am running: Autoconf version 2

/usr is the default for most things (not mkfs.xfs and xfs_repair). do you have an environment variable "MAKE" set to "gcc"? I can reproduce your problem if I do this ... xfsprogs 40> setenv MAKE gcc
