We tried that once ... the screaming from people who only wanted to subscribe once but post from multiple emails (work, home, gmail) etc... was also quite loud. It's probably time to update SA on oss

how about ditch ecartis or whatever cacner there is that munges emails horribly? if you leave the email bodies intact people's local filters will work much more effectively
