-Eric it seems to be really a problem with the debian/unstable distribution. On my system I can't even build proper packages with the original debian attr and xfsprogs sources. look at that: bonnie79
I only update the debian/changelog version strings just prior to uploading new packages to the Debian archive. If you're building from CVS you will sometimes need to edit this file manually. cheers.
