- have you checked if the version of these drivers is actually useful? (eg updated when the driver changes) If it's not I'd say adding a MODULE_VERSION to it makes no sense whatsoever.

- absolutely; however you're not the maintainer of all of the ones you patched... and I still argue that until the number is meaningful exporting it as meaning something is more harm than good.
