I made some tests on backup machines with LSI RAID controllers and one with Adaptec 52445 Raid Controller. On all machines that I tested this - disabling write cache and disk cache doesn't help. I still get message about disabled barriers. All of them have configuration like HardwareRaid->LVM2->XFS I'll try to upgrade kernel up to 2.6.30 as you suggested and see if it helps.
