No, IN MY OPINION, it isn't, but I am not an expert like you are.
As I am working with reiser and I don't have any kind of problem I must think
that driver is working properly.
With reiser now I can unplug power off, then switch computer on, and I don't see
any problem on the filesystem (I have really done this with reiser).
With XFS i was unable to normally boot twice, after a fresh system installation,
and after two normal reboots the system was completely unusable.
I know that there are differences between reiser and xfs ...such as journaling
of data, but I can't say more. You should say if the different design between
these two filesystems can impact in a different way a system with broken ata
driver.
At same time, 'sync' command with reiser behaves normally, and with XFS it took
lot of time to complete, EVEN if I was not writing on disk.
As per your request, I think I can't help too much ---> Please read the very
last part of my bug message.
BUT: if you really need my help (if you don't have such hardware), I have to
shrink one of my reiser partitions and then create a new xfs partition.... it
would be so boring, but just let me know :)
