We have been bitten by this bug too. Here is what we also noticed:
Assuming that we had a user that was reported to have excessive usage (in terms
of the bug) we changed the user's limits to unlimited usage. Then after a few
days we saw that the user's report on disk usage returned back to normal. This
on a software RAID-1 xfs filesystem . Now changing back to the limits that the
user should have, results to normal operation (so far).
What causes this to revert from reporting 18446744073709583276 to normal is
still unclear to me.
