We are currently running a 2.4.12 kernel on a SMP machine serving 270 G from a hardware RAID 5 system via NFS and Samba. I used a standard kernel and then applied the following patches: linux-2.4.12-xfs-2001-10-11.patch.bz2 LVM 1.0.1-rc4 If you are planning to serve NFS you should also apply one patch which is part of 2.4.13. I can send it to you if you want to. The setup described above works very stable at our site. Martin |
