Eric, where did you get these values? I agree it's the bdflush daemon, but
my own research on the 2.4 kernels leads me to believe that metadata is
flushed out every 0.6 seconds. You correctly mention that data is flushed
out every 30 seconds by default, though.

And like my two previous messages on bdflush say: I wonder how setting it
to 1 second (100 jiffies) will affect performance.
