Hello,

First of all try using kernel 2.4.10 and later because there is the Adaptec
driver standard available.

For Redhat 7.1 is on the website of Adaptec
(http://linuix.adaptec.com/linux_raid_unsupported.html) a driver disk
available for Redhat 7.1

Creating an own driver disk can be done like this (thanks to Richard Sharpe,
