Hello,
Our company has been testing SGI's XFS solution for Linux on our Intel
cluster machines. We are happy with the results so far, which allow us to
store database files exceeding ext2's standard 2GB limit. However, after
installing the 0.9 pre-release version we noticed that the /dev/cdrom device
file was missing. This is strange because we installed Linux with the CDs
burned from images provided on SGI's site, and upon booting the /dev/hdc
device is recognized as our Toshiba CDROM. But after the kernel is booted
and we log in, neither the /dev/hdc file or /dev/cdrom file exists. This is
preventing us from mounting CDs and installing more software.
Can you tell us if this is a known issue, and if there is a fix being
developed?
Thank you,
Ken
