It works on x86 platforms for me. The problem is

Any errors on your console or in your system logs?
I tried this locally and (not really surprisingly) it works
just fine on my system.

Uhrm, odd - there are lots of people using XFS from that kernel.
I'm inclined to suspect your hardware at this stage.
