hehe, tricky indeed.

Overall I would guess that designing a 2^48B filesystem is a bit
of a research problem, and requires serious study and thinking,
if one cannot avoid it.


hm, Sun has its magic "ZFS" in stock now:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/
pretty impressive features, although i've never used it...
