because journaling depends on writes actually completing when the device says they're complete. It's hard to cope with being lied to ;-)


XFS makes the reasonable assumption that if it's been told that data is safe on disk, it can carry on with life. If that's not true, the things may well be out of whack, and xfs can't really be expected to cope well.
